Project K.I.T.T. began in 2010. Over the following years, numerous scenes were filmed with the technology available to us at the time. In 2015, production was put on hold despite filming being well advanced.
Today these recordings form part of the independent project's archive. We do not want to hide them: they document how everything began, even though the visual language, resolution and production technology cannot be compared with today's standards. The originals have not been artificially degraded or modernised. They are presented here as historical documents.

An airfield in the Czech Republic became the first film set.
The first filming days took the team to Hradcany airfield near Mimon in the Ceska Lipa district. Denny Schönemann played the lead, with Blanka Švestáková appearing as his on-screen wife. They filmed light, humorous moments between the couple as well as the dramatic scene in which her character is shot. These sequences were among the first building blocks of the story at the time.
It began in red – as part of the story.
Only a red Pontiac was available at the start. The story at the time therefore called for the vehicle to be converted into the black K.I.T.T. during the plot. Filming was to begin even though the later project car was not yet ready.
Driving shots were created with the tools available in 2010.
Several driving scenes were filmed across the extensive airfield. Drone footage, which now seems commonplace, was not available at the time. Camera angles and movement had to be achieved from the ground or from accompanying vehicles.

PEOPLE BEHIND THE FOOTAGE
A small team made the start.
Paul Suske was also part of the team at the time. Another Czech helper and friend of Paul's can be seen in several images. Unfortunately, his name is no longer known and contact has been lost. We state this gap openly rather than inventing information.

More scenes around Könnern, Bernburg and Allstedt.
Considerably more was filmed the following year. Production moved to eastern Germany, with numerous interior, exterior and driving scenes created around Könnern and Bernburg. The story became more action-oriented and the filming schedule grew substantially.
Because repeated journeys to the filming locations in Czechia were very long, the team also used Allstedt airfield in Saxony-Anhalt in 2011. Its hangars and wide open areas closely resembled the construction of the previously used airfield at Hradcany, allowing the original visual continuity to be maintained convincingly.
For the first time, a truck became part of the film story.
Nico Schulze provided the truck for filming at the time. This made it possible to create scenes in which the red Pontiac and a much larger vehicle appeared together as part of the story for the first time.
Friends and contributors made the filming days possible.
Denny Schönemann was supported by Marin Bergner, Uwe Barth, Henry Kaiser, Peggy Kaiser, Christoph Nowak, Christin Janke and Steffen Andreas, among others. They contributed in front of or behind the camera and helped to expand the production considerably in 2011.
